The award ceremony for contribution to the development of legal integration in the Eurasian space was held on June 20, 2014 in the framework of the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum. It is symbolic that the award ceremony took place in June, 2014, less than a month after the Treaty on the Establishment of the Eurasian Economic Community was signed by Presidents of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
The prize awarded by Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, was won by Fayzullo Abdulloyev, a judge of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Community; Anatoly Kapustin, President of the Russian branch of the International Law Association, Chairman of International Law Commission of the Russian Bar Association, Senior Deputy Director of the Institute of Legislation of the Russian Federation; Tair Mansurov, Secretary General of the Eurasian Economic Community.
Careful selection of applications submitted through the Forum website preceded the choice of the laureates. The winners were defined by the independent Expert Council which included deputy Ministers of Justice of the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Belarus, the representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission bodies, heads of major business associations and leading experts in law and international relations.
St. Petersburg International Legal Forum Award was established by the Organizing Committee in 2014. The Award aims at promoting legal integration and supporting international legal cooperation across the Eurasian space.
The idea of the organizers of the Forum was to contribute with the new prestigious award to the strengthening of the international cooperation in the legal area and motivate lawyers to get involved in the integration processes across the Eurasian space.
